The Fakenham & District Chamber
of Trade & Commerce arranges and sponsors the annual
town fireworks display, which takes place at Fakenham
Racecourse on the weekend nearest Guy Fawkes
Night. It's a well-organised and terrifically popular
family event which attracts a multitude of visitors
from far and wide - one of the county's biggest firework
events.
The event raises
the profile of Fakenham as well as the Chamber of Trade.
It's a great piece of positive PR for the town and an
opportunity for the media to give us a mention. The
night also allows us to support local organisations
with cash donations.

A record crowd watched
a memorable firework display at Fakenham Racecourse....
Previous
years attendance records were broken at the 2009
Firework Display.
It was a brilliant sight to behold as well, with thousands
of pounds worth of fireworks making up the display
which must have made a serious impression on
the audience.
A massive 5,500 people attended, a
figure which was obviously boosted by the favourable
weather (and the fact that money was being raised for
the Help The Heroes campaign).
Well done to committee members, volunteers,
North Norfolk Radio, the Light Dragoons from Swanton
Morley barracks and all the others who made the evening
one to remember. A special mention goes to John Lingwood
of Lawnwise & Leisure who certainly did a great
job with the pyrotechnics!
5,500 in the audience. Pretty
good for a town with fewer than 8,000 inhabitants!
The
2009 display was on Saturday 7th November. North Norfolk
Radio's Dick Hutchinson and Graham Lewis were in attendance,
broadcasting live updates during the lead-up to the
show and providing entertainment and the traditional
countdown to the display.
In 2009, we were supporting
the charity Help
For Heroes which supports injured soldiers,
as well as our usual local organisations.
Pictured below are some
of the committee at the launch of 2009's display, held
at The Robertson Barracks at Swanton Morley - John Lingwood,
Gavin Rayner, Diane Shilling, Sergeant Petit, Stuart
Cuttler (President) Simon Jupp (North Norfolk Radio).

We had a wonderful
new first prize for the raffle this year which was donated
by Pure Lettings. It was a 2 night break at one
of Exclusive Norfolk Holidays' self catering holiday
cottages courtesy of Pure Lettings.
